Hi,
Perhaps the most difficult of pages on the site for me to compile, I found hypnosis as a child and developed a keen interest in the subject. Self taught I was able to amaze friends at school by performing stage tricks such as sticking their hands together and gluing their eyes shut etc.
This interest laid latent for a number of years until getting to know my business partner Duncan Harris and him discovering by accident my interest in hypnosis. This interest of mine was mirrored in Duncan and I was able to pass on the knowledge and by now near 30 years of experience I had in the field.
Both Duncan and I quickly realized the huge interest in the field that the average person has. Everybody has heard of hypnosis, but very few have actually been knowingly hypnotized, even fewer in a therapeutic way.
We were being approached by work colleagues asking if we could assist in the usual fields of Confidence, smoking cessation, weight control etc which spurned us on to gain formal training in the field, achieving the externally verified* qualifications
Dip.H Cert.SM Dip.NLP
In addition to the highly sought after, prestigious
HYPNOTHERAPY PRACTITIONER DIPLOMA, indeed we were invited in 2005 to become part of the renowned LIFE SOLUTIONS organization where we now train aspiring
Hypnotherapists in our 7 (soon to be 8) nationwide training centers.
This coupled with a busy and thriving private practice keeps me on my
toes. The very individualistic nature of therapy is what keeps my enthusiasm in this field high and I welcome the chance of both testing and developing my skills further.
A wise person once said “the hardest step to take on any journey is the first" and my experience would lead me to agree with this statement whole heartedly. Many clients comment on how the perception of therapy was so very different to the reality, in many many cases how they “wish they had come for treatment years ago”.
They way I look at a therapists role could perhaps be best summed up as " A client comes to a therapist for help, if we do our job properly the client should totally forget about us afterwards. How many times do you think about your dentist if your teeth do not ache?" if you can not achieve this level of rapport with your therapist it could well be time to source another one.
My ambition is to bring the field of Therapeutic Hypnotherapy out of the fog in which it currently finds itself, dissolve away the mystic and bring into the mainstream the many hugely beneficial aspects that Hypnosis can bring.
I look forward to welcoming you at my practice
David
